Continuous Casting and Direct Rolling (CCDR) is a short-process technology that involves continuously casting molten steel into billets, which are then directly fed into a hot continuous rolling mill for shaping without cooling or with only short-term heat preservation. The core of this process lies in achieving a physical connection between "casting" and "rolling," utilizing residual heat to complete plastic deformation and significantly shortening the production cycle.
II. Production Line Structure and Equipment Composition
1. Continuous Casting Machine Module
Core Equipment: Mold, segment, cutting device (e.g., flying shear).
Function: Continuously casts molten steel into billets with specific cross-sectional shapes (e.g., slabs, blooms), while controlling the solidification rate through a secondary cooling zone.
Technical Requirements: Must accommodate the phase transition of high-temperature molten steel from liquid → liquid-solid → solid state. The equipment requires high-temperature resistance, fatigue resistance, and precision manufacturing capabilities.
2. Continuous Rolling Mill Module
Core Equipment: Roughing mill, finishing mill, coiler.
Function: Performs multi-pass rolling on high-temperature billets to produce steel with the desired thickness and width.
Technical Requirements: Must match the casting speed of the continuous caster to ensure uniform billet temperature and prevent performance inconsistencies caused by temperature gradients.
3. Auxiliary Systems
Soaking Furnace: Provides short-term heat preservation for continuous cast billets to eliminate temperature gradients (tunnel soaking furnaces typically range from 100 to 250 meters in length).
Cooling System: Laminar cooling devices control the cooling rate of rolled steel to optimize microstructure and properties.
Automation Control: Computer-based monitoring of parameters such as casting speed, temperature, and tension throughout the process enables dynamic adjustments.
